Prachodana believes that everyone in the society deserves an opportunity to be included in 'lifelong learning'. Keeping this in mind Prachodana Social Service Society (PSSS) started its Non Formal Education in 2011 at Nebsara near to Bishops house to support local kids from low socio economic back ground in their school education. We thankfully remember with prayers the late Sr. Bensetta OIC who was one of the pioneers of this project. The tuition classes started in the small auditorium of theb Nebsera Cathedral and now we have 35 students coming for this educational session. It covers academic and moral teachings. The students ranges from 1st standard to 12th standard are attending these sessions from 2.30 pm to 6 pm and they are provided with light snacks. As an extension for this noble service we have the same educational activity at the slums in Lalbag in Manasarovar Park started in December 2014 in one of night shelters and later in July 2015 built own shelter and started functioning under the direction of Rev.Fr. Devasia.
There were 45 children in the beginning and now we cater for 69 children. These children belong to 49 local families who are self-employed without any fixed source of income. Morning session of non-formal education session for boys and afternoon session for girls. The students are provided with lunch and light snacks. The location of these shelters is under the territory of DMRC and Northern railways and some legal formalities are still ongoing. We are hoping and praying to have a permanent solution for this infrastructure problem. We have around 20 volunteer teachers and 6 non-teaching staff between these two centers for the smooth functioning. During national and state festivals Prachodana arranges special functions and celebrations and provide gifts for the students.
